Frank Gilbert Barr, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Harley O. Barr and Estella (Britton) Barr.

Frank was a very dedicated Christian. He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church and attended Mt. View Free Methodist Church. He held a lifetime membership with the Gideons and took pride in reading his bible well over forty times.
Frank served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as part of the 65th Engineer Battalion, 25th Infantry Division, also known as 'Tropic Lightning' from 1952-1954.

He was a principal for the Monongalia County school system and taught in many one-room schools in the early years of his career. He retired in 1985 with more than 40 years of service. During his retirement, he could be found at Eat'n Park every Wednesday with his special friends Jerry Summers, Clarence Harvey, Jr., their favorite waitress turned friend, Chrissy, and the late Bernard Summers as part of their Breakfast Club. He also enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his daughters, Gilberta "Birdie" Dalton and Wendy and husband Clifton "David" Gill; one son at home, Dorian "Chuggie" Barr; brother-in-law Paul Joe Hart and wife Velma Jean; sisters-in-law, Shelby "Jackie", Lorna, and Eleanor Hart; his grandchildren, Tim and Kim Dalton, Allan and Elizabeth Dalton, Sara and Brandon Linton, Randall "Ralph" and Amy Dalton, Corrine and Justin Nicholson, Michael and Taylor Gill, and Heidi Jackson; great-grandchildren, Mazee and Hunter Gump, Hunter, Briar, Sequoia, Savannah, and Shannon, Autumn, Katelyn, Charles, Thomas, Kaiden, Kynlea, Waylon, Lanee, Aubree, Kaitlyn, Trapper, Ryder, Hazel, Greyson, Declan, Layla, Linzee, Jalen, Katie, Jacob, and Keiontay; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Frank was the last surviving sibling of his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; his parents-in-law, Henry and Sarah Hart; his beloved wife of 63 years, Hazel (Hart) Barr; a son-in-law, Willis "Rob" Dalton; five brothers, Stanley and wife Velma, Chester and his first and second wives Maude and Pat, Paul and wife Violet, Robert and wife Rose, as well as his twin brother Jack and wife Joann; two sisters, Virginia Lee and husband Jim Michaels, and Ethel and husband Chester Wilson; several brothers-in-law, Kenneth, Albert, Lloyd, Henry Jr., Russell, Ray, and Bert Hart; and two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hart and Edith Dalton.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to WV Caring for all of their help during this time.

A visitation will be held Sunday, October 31, 2021, from 1 PM – 5 PM at the Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home. He will lie in repose at the Mt. View Free Methodist Church on Monday, November 1, 2021, from 11AM until the time of service at 2 PM with Pastors Donna Dalton and Charles McDonald officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by VFW Posts 9916, 548, and WVANG Kingwood, WV.
