Mary Kate loved God and His son Jesus Christ, enjoyed laughing and being with friends and family, and was always ready to put her foot in the road to travel. In fact, she was a travel hostess for many years guiding others to the Holy Land and Egypt. She lived with her beloved husband and daughters in Naples, Italy for three years. From there she traveled to England, Scotland, France, Finland, Norway, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
When her husband passed away, Mary Kate moved to Westminster Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia Beach where she participated in a variety of activities and programs. She called Bingo, crocheted baby receiving blankets, for Navy Relief, and neck scarves, for Vet's House. For many who played cards and games with Mary Kate, she was known as a "card shark" because she liked to win and did so frequently! She always had a wonderful smile and a kind word for everyone she met.
She will be laid to rest in Martin Memorial Gardens next to her mother, father, and husband on November 6th following a grave side service at 1:00. A reception will follow at Williamston Memorial Baptist Church, 109 West Church Street, Williamston, N.C. In addition, a memorial service will be held at Westminster Canterbury on the Chesapeake Bay on November 14th at 1:00 with a reception afterward.
