Fredrick was born December 25, 1954, to L.C. Clay and Oscar Frye Sr. He attended School in Arkansas upon graduation, he attended The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. Later in life, he decided to make the United States Army his home. Fred was a member of the American Legion Post #2 and the Disabled American Veteran Chapter #47.
Fredrick was deployed to several stations around the world from Fort Leonard Wood Missouri, Fort Lee, Virginia 240th 267th Battalion instructor, Augsburg, Germany 229th battalion, Fort Stewart Georgia Petroleum Handle, Fort Campbell Kentucky Petroleum Specialist, 2 Quartermaster 78th Company Group and EEO Florida. He is predeceased by his mother-in-law, Barbara J. Wheeler.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Delanie M. Frye, three sons Fredrick L. Frye, Anthony L. Frye, and Ravid R. Frye, ten grandchildren, Tykiesa, Tyshawne, NyQuan, Brieille, Jazara, Shaquan, Kay-Kay Auroua Harmony, and Hayden. Two sisters, Bobby Melson of Glendale Arizona, Namoi Lane (William) of Chicago Illinois, and brother, William Frye of Phoenix Arizona; father and mother-in-law, William and Christian Avery. Several brother and sisters-in-law, Verhonda Pitt (William), Benita Brown (Gerald), Monica Cromartie, Demetria Wheeler, Darryl Walker (Terri), and Benton Wheeler. A special nephew, Steven V. Clay of Chicago. Longtime friend, Willie Slater, Clara Batts, and Annette Avery, who has always been by his side.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Petersburg Chapel – Joseph M. Johnson & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Alexander Williams, officiating. Burial will follow with Military Honors at the Southlawn Memorial Park.
