Born at Motuhaku, near Masterton, the 7th of 13 children of James Robieson (1839-1927) & Eliza Renall (1845-1887). He attended Te Whiti school.
His father arrived in NZ as a 12 year old on the barque 'Eden', arriving in Wellington 28 Nov 1850, with his sister Jean (aka Jane) and her husband Charles Rooking Carter (1822–1896), builder, businessman, politician, writer, philanthropist (and how Charles got his middle names) .. https://teara.govt.nz/en/biographies/1c8/carter-charles-rooking

- On the 15th July 1925, at 50 Epsom avenue, Auckland, by the Rev L. H. Hunt, Charles Rooking Carter, of The Terrace, Wellington, fourth son of Mr James Robieson, of Masterton, to Fannie Elizabeth, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Kirk of Epsom, Auckland

Charles next married Dorothy Florence Willoughby (1899-1980, nee Robertson) at St Andrew's, The Terrace, Wellington, 3 Sep 1930.

Mr C. R. C. ROBERTSON
The death occurred this week at Martinborough of Mr C. R. C. Robieson, in his seventieth year. Mr Robieson was a well-known figure in the Public Service and the commercial life of New Zealand.
The son of Mr James Robieson, a pioneer sheep farmer of the Wairarapa, Mr Robieson had the usual schooling of the pioneering days and in 1889 joined the Railway Department as a cadet. A man of keen mind and great industry, Mr Robieson rose quickly in the service of the State and became director of Tourist and Health Resorts and Industries and Commerce. In 1910 he was appointed general manager of the State Fire Insurance Office. In 1922 he retired from the Public Service and became general manager of the N.I.M.U.Mutual Insurance Company and the New Zealand Medical Assurance Society. From these positions he retired some years ago.
While in the Public Service, he was president of the Public Service Association from 1904 to 1906. He took a great interest in adult education and was president for some years of the Workers' Educational Association.He married in 1900 to Miss Maude E. Skelley and in 1930 Miss Dorothy Willoughby, who survives him. He is also survived by two sons of his first marriage, Mr Vernon Robieson, of Melbourne and Lieutenant Neville Robieson, of the Second N.Z.E.F., and a daughter, Mrs Willoughby, of Martinborough. Two children of the second marriage also survive him.
In his younger days Mr Robieson was a keen sportsman. He won the Hutt Golf Club championship one season and was an enthusiastic bowler.
