Charles Edward "Ed" Lancaster passed away unexpectedly Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021.

He was born July 29, 1958 to Frank Lancaster and Margaret V. (May) Lancaster.

Ed attended Greencastle High School and graduated in May 1976.

Ed's whole life was spent in the Greencastle area except when he served six years in the Air Force as ground support personnel working on equipment, firetrucks and other vehicles.

After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Ed returned home to become owner and operator of Lancaster Radiator Shop. When Ed closed his shop, he went on to do work as a mechanic for a number of companies in the general area. In September 2001, Ed was seriously injured in an accident during work and was unable to continue his career as a mechanic.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Margaret Lancaster, and sisters Flossie Plummer, Li Lady and Sarah Frances Lancaster.

Ed is survived by his significant other and lifelong companion, Cathy Rogers; brother John (Betty) Lancaster of Greencastle; Joyce O'Brien of Greencastle; Susan Lancaster of Bloomington; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ed's ashes will be buried in Forest Hill Cemetery in the veterans' section. There will be a graveside service with military honors Friday, Nov. 5 at 2 p.m.
