Sheila Jeanne (Hurt) Abbott, of Seiling, passed from this life on October 24, 2021 at the age of 62 years, 4 months, and 6 days. She was born on June 18, 1959 to Jerry Lee and Gynith (Winters) Hurt in Oklahoma City, the oldest of three children. Sheila grew up in the Chester area on the family farm. She graduated from Seiling High School with the Class of 1977. She worked in transportation, first with the Lone Mountain Facility in Waynoka, and later for Tony's Pump and Supply in Seiling.
On February 14, 2011 she was united in marriage to Dewitt Durwood Abbott in Seiling, and although she did not have children of her own, she quickly took his family as part of her own (especially the grandbabies!) In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family. Sheila was always going out of her way to help family.
Sheila was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Lee Hurt, and a sister G. "Lynn" Dupus.
She is survived by her husband Dewitt of the home; mother, Gynith Hurt of Chester, OK; brother, Terry Hurt and wife Regina of Chester; step-children, Hannah Dunagan and husband Casey of Mustang, OK, Braydon Guess and wife Rachel of Arizona; grandchildren, Aiyana, McKenna, Rowan, Adalynn, and Kinsley; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Elm Grove Community Church in Chester, OK. Burial will follow at Brumfield Cemetery.
