Billy Ray Barnes, 93, of Colorado City, entered his heavenly home on October 25, 2021 in Abilene, Texas.
Billy was born on December 31, 1927 to William A. and Mary Bozarth Barnes in Van Alstyne, Texas. He later met and married the love of his life Georgia Frances Barnes on July 4, 1951 in Van Alstyne. In their 59 years of marriage they raised 4 children. In March of 1955 they moved to Colorado City where Billy began working in the oilfield for Union Texas Petroleum, which he retired form in December of 1987. Billy will be remembered for showing his children what hard work and dedication looked like. For instilling a work ethic into his family.
Those left behind to cherish his memories are sons, Nelson Ray Barnes of Bixby, Oklahoma and Lanny Wayne Barnes of Colorado City, Texas, Daughters Cynthia Ann Barnes of Colorado City, Texas and Carol Lynn Taylor and husband Eddie of Sherman, Texas. 2 Grandsons, 1 Granddaughter and 1 Great Granddaughter. Also many family and friends including the Dairy Queen coffee drinkers. Billy is preceded in death by his parents William and Mary Barnes, Wife Georgia Francis Barnes, and 7 sisters and 2 brothers.
