Robert Neil Moss, 91, of Marshville, NC, died peacefully at his home on October 26, 2021. Through the blessing of hospice, he was able to be at home surrounded by family.

Robert was born in Flint, Michigan, on October 10, 1930, the son of Homer and Josephine Gould Moss.

His family moved to Stanfield, NC, and ultimately to Charlotte. Twelve days after his 17th birthday, he answered his country's call to service and enlisted in the United States Navy. There he attained the rank of Boilerman Petty Officer Third Class (BT3). Robert earned the Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation Medal and China Service Medal before his honorable discharge on October 23, 1951. Robert continued his service in the Merchant Marines for a few years before returning to Charlotte.

Robert went to work for Harvey B Hunter Dairies as a milkman, and upon delivery to one of his grocery store accounts, Colonial Stores, he met the lovely Ms. Jeanette Yarbrough. They were married on September 4, 1955, just recently celebrating their 66th anniversary.

Robert then started driving truck for Overnite and Johnson Motor Lines before ultimately retiring.

When not working, he enjoyed watching old westerns, especially "Gunsmoke". He also enjoyed spending time outside, including gardening and raising his grapevines. Even at 90, he could be found mowing his yard. Most of all, Robert loved the time spent with family and friends.

Robert is survived by his wife, Jeanette; a son, Neil (wife Cindy) Moss Jr of Indian Trail, NC; a daughter Diane (husband Brian) Campbell of Rock Hill, SC; and a daughter, Penny Dabestani of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; grandchildren: Sabrina, Amber and Robby Moss; Taylor Campbell; and Bobby, Easton and Parissa Dabestani; two great grandchildren: Jacob and Olivia Campbell; and a special sister-in-law, Kathy Yarbrough. Robert is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Brantley, Harvey and Ronald Moss, his sister, Betty Joe Moore; and a son, James Glen Moss.

Robert's family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for him and for them. The family will receive friends from 11 am until noon on Friday, October 29, at the funeral home, 4715 Margaret Wallace Road, Matthews, NC 28105. At noon, all will gather in the chapel for a service commemorating the life, love and blessing of this wonderful man. Following the service, there will be a procession to Sunset Memory Gardens where graveside services with Navy Honors will be held.

In honor of Robert, donations in his name would be appreciated to St Jude's Children's Hospital, www.stjude.com/donate
Robert's family would like to extend a gracious thank you to Dr. Chad Cheuk at the Columbia, SC, VA Medical Center for his wonderful care over the years.
