Virginia Cox, age 83, of Archer City, Texas passed away Sunday morning, October 24, 2021, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 29, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home with Derland Bahr officiating. Interment will follow in the archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021, at Aulds Funeral Home.
Virginia was born the fifth of nine children on October 25, 1937 in King City, California to the late Walter Henry Crabb and Grace Elizabeth Adams Crabb.
She and Donald Wayne Cox, Sr. were married on January 6, 1954 in Tahoka, Texas. They divorced in 1982. He preceded her in death on October 4, 2013.
Virginia was a homemaker throughout her life and was a caregiver for several families. She was an active member of the Church of Christ. Virginia loved her family especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Wayne "Donnie" Cox, Jr. of Wichita Falls, and James Cox and wife, DeAnn of Archer City; two daughters, Gretta Veitenheimer and husband, Robert of Windthorst and Loretta Richey of Archer City; one sister, Clara Weaver Earp and husband, Sam of Abilene; three brothers, Arthur Crabb of Arizona, Thomas Crabb and wife, Marsha of Hico, and Clarence Crabb and wife, Terry of San Angelo; nine grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a longtime friend of twenty-five years, LeRoy McCoy of Burleson.
Virginia was also preceded in death by one daughter, Judy Cox in 1963; grandson, Tyler Ryan Cox in 2007; one great-granddaughters, Kirsten Adriana Melisande Shea Veitenheimer in 2021; and four sisters, Juanita Wilson, Louise Perry, Elizabeth Shedd and Pat Hibbert.
The family suggests memorials for her great-grandson, Riplee Veitenheimer C/O First State Bank, P.O. Box 1700, Archer City, Texas 76351.
