TARBORO - Clarice Ayers Allen, 89, loving mother, grandmother and Nana died Friday, Dec. 19, 2008, at Heritage Hospital. A funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Carlisle Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park in Wilson Mrs. Allen was born in Nansemond County, Va., to the late Robert Staton and Louise Cushing Ayers. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, William Bruce Allen; brother, Robert Staton Ayers Jr.; and sister, Helen Cummings. Mrs. Allen is survived by her sons, Robert Bruce "Bobby" Allen and wife, Jean, of Tarboro and Wayne Allen of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Debra Allen Guthrie and husband, William, of Tarboro, Celina Allen Hawkins and husband, Danny, of Tarboro, Jeffrey Allen and wife Kim of Jacksonville, Jerry Allen and wife, Gina, of Jacksonville and Christopher Allen of Jacksonville; 12 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild in which she was determined to live to see. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home and other times at the home of Robert Allen, 100 Marshall St., Tarboro.
