Shelby Jean Fincher Holley, widow of Glenn H. Holley, Sr., passed away on November 20, 2017, in Monroe, NC, following a brief illness.

Born October 13, 1937, she was a daughter of the late William Amzie Fincher, Sr. and Mary Lee Glenn Fincher.

She was also predeceased by two brothers, William A. Fincher, Jr., and Joe N. Fincher.

Shelby, or "Toots" as she was affectionately known to family and childhood friends, graduated from Wesley Chapel High School where she played basketball and was a member of the National Beta Club.

Upon graduating from Carolina Business College in Charlotte, she began a long career in office management. For many years she ran the Columbia office of the South Carolina State Motor Club and later worked part-time at the USC Bookstore where she enjoyed the young people with whom she came in contact.

Following the death of her husband, she moved to Monroe, NC, to be closer to her family. Shelby and Glenn Holley worked tirelessly for the children of South Carolina, particularly those who lived in the Cayce area. For years, they raised money for the Shriners Hospital for Children and they spent countless hours on the baseball fields where their children played.

Shelby was a "soccer mom" before the term was invented. She drove carloads of kids to practice, worked concession stands, and even coached when she was needed. She made sure that everyone who wanted to play did so, buying gloves and cleats for many children who did not have the means to provide their own.

In addition to her career and volunteer work, Shelby was an avid golfer, winning the Ladies' Championship several times while a member at Charwood Country Club. She also enjoyed playing cards and was an exceptional dancer.

She is survived by two sons, Glenn H. Holley, Jr. (Georgia) of Murrells Inlet, SC, and Andy F. Holley (Sonya) of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter, Jill Holley Boggs (Bill) of Leesburg, VA; two grandchildren, Cadet 4th Class Natalie Holley of the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, and Cap Holley of Murrells Inlet; one brother, Archie G. Fincher of Monroe, NC; and one sister, Barbara Fincher King of Lugoff, SC.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 25, at First Presbyterian Church, Monroe, NC.

Burial will follow at Siler Cemetery in Matthews, NC.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, November 24, at McEwen Funeral Home in Monroe, NC.
