Throughout Patricia's life, she worked at My Sister's Closet, in dietary at Bloomington Hospital, and with Student Services at Indiana University. However, Patricia's favorite "job" was that of being a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed traveling and loved spending time at the ocean; specifically the waters of the Caribbean. Patricia was able to experience swimming with stingrays in the Cayman Islands, shopping in Rum Point, and was fortunate to experience this excursion with her family and one of her life-long friends.
Patricia is survived by her daughters, Alisha (Moses) Thacker and Krista Davis; grandchildren, Shelbi (Chris), Ethan, Cody, Shawn (Amanda "Amoo"), Dakota (fiancé, Marisol), and Vesta; great-grandchildren, Brexley "Rex", Sawyer, Weylen, Olivia, Noah, Cody, Laken, Estelle "Poppy", Elena, Willow, and Penelope; brother, Steve (Carol) Axsom; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her life-long friends, Sue Evans Bestwick and Melody Lawson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary L. Butler; and her brothers, Leston "Bub" Axsom and Mike Axsom.
A funeral service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at Turning Point Apostolic Church, 210 W. Vine Street, Ellettsville. Burial followed at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
