He was born on March 22, 1946, in Washington, D.C., the son of Francis Xavier and Eileen (Fox) Burns.Tim graduated from Montgomery Blair High School, class of 1965. He married his high school sweetheart, Alice Sweeney Burns, and settled in Bloomfield Hills, MI. They celebrated 51 years of marriage in August.
Tim was a member of the Knights of Columbus, A Marriage Prep leader in Raleigh, NC; A High School Faith Formation teacher at St. Frances Cabrini, and started a Cenacle of Divine Mercy at Saint Frances Cabrini this past fall. He enjoyed golfing with family, loved watching sports, and was a loyal Redskins fan. He is remembered for his great sense of humor and kind heart. He lived simply and with generosity, and was known to be wise and welcoming.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Burns.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Route 75, Libertytown, MD (address is 9190 Church St., Union Bridge, MD 21791), with Rev. Fr. Chuck Wible, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, January 5 at Hartzler Funeral Home-Libertytown, 11802 Liberty Rd., Frederick, where at 3:00 p.m. the rosary will be recited followed by the Divine Mercy prayer, then a Christian Wake service at 3:30 p.m. led by Deacon Jerry Jennings.
