Angela (Bonadies) Griffin of Hingham, passed away Friday, October 22, one day before her 95th birthday, at home with her family by her side.

Born and raised in Hartford CT, she was the third of six children and oldest daughter of Rocco and Florence Bonadies. In 1948 she married William Griffin whose career took them to New York, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and finally, in 1971, to Hingham where she lived until her death. Angela held several part-time jobs over the years while raising their seven children, always encouraging them and supporting their many activities, especially their participation in and love of sports, which she shared. She and Bill enjoyed playing tennis together with their Hingham friends. In the early 1980s, Angela began work as Administration Manager at St. Margaret's Hospital, Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine where she stayed for several decades before retiring. After her husband's death in 1984, Angela began playing golf and as her passion for the game grew, her family knew not to schedule daytime events on the weekend. In the evening she was always ready to join friends or family for trips to the movies, theater, a ballgame, a new restaurant, or to gather at home with good food and a glass of red wine. In later years, Angela revived her bridge playing skills learned years earlier and became an accomplished player as well as a mentor and teacher to many aspiring bridge players. Having experienced life during the Great Depression and World War II, when she saw such compassion and support in her community, to today, when she tapped her iPad or called an Uber, she was a proud American who cherished her right to vote in every election.

Angela is survived by her children: William and his wife, Karen Griffin, of Somers CT, Robert Griffin and his wife, Roseann Russell, of Quincy, David and his wife, Katie Griffin, of Hingham, Tracey Monahan and her husband, William, of Hingham, Margaret Ryan and her partner Dennis McCarthy of Fairfield, CT, John Griffin and his wife, Jean McGeary, of Hingham, and Michael Griffin of Falmouth. She was the mother-in-law of Maureen Griffin of Hingham and the late Patrick Ryan. She had 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Laura Klicka, sister-in-law, Kathleen Bonadies, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Nicholas Bonadies and Daniel Bonadies, and sisters, Joan Daniel and Anne Bonadies.

Angela was a member of the Hingham Tennis Club, South Shore Country Club, Marshfield Country Club and Black Rock Country Club.

Per her request burial is private. The family will gather and greet friends for a Celebration of Life on October 28, 2021 at Black Rock Country Club in Hingham, from 5-8 PM, with remembrances at 5:45 and food and drinks served throughout.
