Conley Ray Ashcraft Jr., 72, of Alexandria, KY passed away on October 23, 2021. He was born in Covington, KY to the late Conley Ray Sr. and Dolores (Andress) Ashcraft. He was a graduate of Covington Catholic High School. Ray had worked as a welder and supervisor for Ortner Freight Car for 19 years. He retired after 20 years as a maintenance supervisor from the Housing Authority of Covington. He was a 50-year member of St. Mary's Parish in Alexandria, KY where he volunteered with the Booster Club as their President, helped with Bingo, and was a Minister of Hospitality. He also operated St. Mary's ball field. He coached knothole baseball for 11 years. He was a member for over 50 years with the Catholic Order of Foresters. Ray served and retired as a Chief Ranger of Kentucky State Court and served the same capacity for St. Joseph Local Court 1725. He enjoyed bowling, camping, watching the Cincinnati Reds, college sports, playing cards, playing and watching golf. Ray dedicated the better part of his life to his wife and kids, who he loved very much. He enjoyed watching his three grandchildren grow up and play sports. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, who he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on November 6th, 2021, Irene (Franzen) Ashcraft. Children; Kenneth Ashcraft, Kirk (Traci) Ashcraft, Karen Glahn (Michael Webster) and Kelly (Mark) Baxter. Siblings; Bonnie Feltner, Sandy Middleton, Kim (David) Conrad, Gary Ashcraft, Keith (Pat) Ashcraft, Jay (Kelli) Ashcraft. Grandchildren; Karly, Craig Jr. (CJ) and Caitlyn Glahn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 27th, 2021 at St. Mary's Parish in Alexandria, KY from 4pm-7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Mary's at 7pm on October 27th, 2021. Graveside burial will be held on October 28th, 2021 at St. Mary's Cemetery at 10am. Family requests that any donations be made to St. Mary Church, 8246 E. Main St., Alexandria, KY 41001 or the Muscular Dystrophy Association, PO Box 97075, Washington, DC 20090-7075. Cooper Funeral Home is serving the family.
