Denzil J. Collier
1938 – 24 Oct 2021

Denzil was very active as a fireman his entire life, first serving as a volunteer fireman for the Plain City Volunteer Fire Department (1956-1992), fireman for the Norwich Township Fire Department (1972-1990) and retiring from and working with his two sons at the Jerome Township Fire Department (1992-2006).

He also worked for the Jerome Township Road Division for over 30 years.

Denzil was a member of the Church of Christ of Christian Union, Plain City and had been attending Dublin Baptist Church.

Preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Goldie (Vanover) Collier, loving and devoted wife of 61 years Phyllis (Skaggs) Collier - 2019, sons Gregory J. Collier - May 5, 2021 and Jeffrey L. Collier - 2006, sister Sue Ayers, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Lorraine and Bud Roach, infant brother-in-law Loren Skaggs, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Sherrill and Georgie Skaggs,

Survived by his 5 grandsons, Trevor (Taylor) Collier, Adam (Leslee) Collier, Tyler (Haley) Collier, Hunter (Andrea) Collier and Brayden Collier; 2 great-grandsons, Boone Collier and Cameron Collier; 1 great-granddaughter on her way in February; 2 daughters-in-law, Tammi Collier, Missy Collier; sister and brother-in-law, Edie and Dan Yutzy; brother-in-law, Robert Ayers.

The family will receive friends 2-4PM Sunday at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main Street, Plain City, where the funeral will be held at 10AM Monday, November 1, 2021 with Pastor Phil Conrad officiating and burial at Foster Chapel Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the JA Education Foundation, in memory of Lt. Jeff Collier Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 144, Plain City, Ohio 43064.
