Jim was born on December 29th, 1936 in Bloomington, Indiana to Ervin and Florence May. He received his business degree from Indiana University and worked for the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Neurology as the Director of Finance & Administration for over 30 years. Jim is survived by his wife, Rita May; his daughter, Holly May; his sister, Lou Ann Baxter (Larry); and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tom May (Janet) and sisters Carol Welty (Bob) and Mary Lee Hardisty (Winfred).
Woodworking, reading, listening to classical music and John Phillip Sousa Marches, watching football and the "Big Bang Theory" were examples of some of the simple things he enjoyed in life. Jim also enjoyed volunteering at Westlane Middle School, helping his daughter with her band program.
If you told Jim to have a good day, his response was always "you have a better day."
Due to Covid, there will not be a formal service. However, if you knew Jim, take time to remember a special moment you shared with him. In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider a donation to Gleaners Food Bank.
Arrangements are being handled by Flanner Buchanan - Speedway. Online condolences and a video tribute may be viewed at www.flannerbuchanan.com/obit/james-jim-howard-may/
