Barbara Jane Gandy, 73, passed away on Aug. 6, 2014, following a very long battle with cancer. She was with her immediate family at her home at the time of her passing. Barbara was born in Albemarle, N.C. At an early age, her family moved to Fitzgerald, Ga., where she spent her childhood years and completed her education. After graduation she moved to Macon, Ga., where she met and married Phillip J. Gandy Sr. In 1976, Barbara and Phillip moved to St. Augustine with their family. Barbara pursued a career in real estate and settled with Olde Carriage Realty and during this time she earned her broker's license and received accolades for the excellent service she provided for her many clients. Barbara will be remembered as an outstanding mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, and fulfilled these roles completely with great love, grace and enthusiasm.

In addition, Barbara enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking, fishing, but most of all she embraced her role in life.

Barbara is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Phillip J. Gandy Sr.; daughter, Edna Darlene Gandy of Bartlesville, Okla.; son, Phillip James Gandy, Jr. and his wife, Micki of St. Augustine; granddaughter and grandson, great-granddaughter, great-grandson; sister, Edna Kelley Yarbrough; brother-in-law, Elvin P Yarbrough Jr.; nephew and many other relatives. She was predeceased by her parents, Evelyn Kelley Combs and Luther Harris Kelley.

A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Craig Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 2 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

A private family memorial will follow at a future date.

A special thanks goes to St. Augustine Cancer Center and Staff, Pastor Pat Turner of First United Methodist Church and Community Hospice of NE Florida.
