She married architect Robert Murphy whom she met when he was completing his war service at the Orlando Air Force Base. They raised 5 children together while she was active in the community, serving President of the Junior League and Vice President of the local Chapter of the League of Women Voters. She was also a strong supporter of various arts and education organizations in the area.
Her greatest devotion was as a founding member of St Michael's Episcopal Church in the College Park area of Orlando. She was one of 18 communicants at the first service in a rented garage in 1948, and went on to serve in numerous capacities as the parish grew to be among the most active in the Orlando area.
At the time of her death 4 days short of her 96th birthday, she was survived by 4 of her 5 children, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Her cremains were laid to rest next to her husband's after a funeral service in the church she helped found.
