Fred C. Jones, 92, of Olney, passed away on October 23, 2021 at his residence.
Fred C. Jones was born June 25, 1929 in Olney, IL to Raymond and Edith A (Herrin) Jones.
He married Neva L (Phillips) on January 9, 1954 in Noble, IL. Neva L (Phillips) preceded him in death on August 9, 2011.
Fred worked for 40 years for Illini Builders in Olney. He enjoyed camping and cooking over a campfire. He also loved working outside in the yard. Fred was a diehard St Louis Cardinals fan (when they were winning) and a OCC sports fan (no matter what). Fred loved his family and loved his grandchildren. He attended every event that he could if his grandchildren were involved. Fred's wit and optimism will be missed by all those that knew him.
Fred is survived by daughter, Becky (Lee) Linder of Olney; son, Steve (Jane) Jones of Newton; daughter, Pam (Jim) Waddell of Olney; daughter, Ann (Bob) Thomas of Grayville, IL; daughter, Jan (Michael) Russell of Mt Vernon, IL; 20 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren; brothers, Charles Jones of Olney and Kenny Jones of Waxahachie, TX; and several nieces and nephews..
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; brothers, James L, Jack G, Gerald B, and Dale L Jones; sisters, Mildred Workman, and Betty Farny; and grandson, Scott Curtis.
Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney is in charge of arrangements. A funeral will be held at 11:00 AM on October 28, 2021 at Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Maple Dale Cemetery.
Full Military Rites at the graveside will performed by the Local Veterans Organization.
