ARTHUR "ART" MITCHELL, 88, of Imlay City, Michigan, died Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Stonegate Health Campus of Lapeer, MI. Arthur Joseph Mitchell was born January 3, 1933 in Ithica, NY. He is the son of the late Arthur and the late Marion (Gasnick) Mitchell. Art grew up in Ithica, NY and attended school there. He later moved and lived in Warren and Utica, MI. Art married Helen McGillis on December 1, 1956 in Utica, Michigan. Art and Helen moved to Imlay City in 1985.
He was employed as a press operator by Chrysler Corporation – Stamping Plant in Sterling Heights, MI for 25+ years before retiring.
Art is survived by his wife, Helen Mitchell of Imlay City, MI; daughters, Geraldine Evans of New Haven, MI, Darlene (Paul Bishop) Mitchell of Harrison Twp., MI and Christine Balon of Alpena; his sons, Danny Mitchell of Asheville, NC, Bobbie (Sandra) Mitchell of Rochester, MN, and Duane (Loretta) Mitchell of Brown City, MI; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur & Marion Mitchell; and his brother, David Mitchell.
The funeral was held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home of Imlay City, 225 N. Main Street, Imlay City, MI. Interment of Art's cremated remains will take place at a later date in Christian Memorial Gardens West in Rochester, MI.
