He married Lorraine Hitt on September 4, 1954, at Sanborn Lutheran Church in the town of Norwood.
Keith served in the United States Army as a combat engineer in Korea from 1952-1954. In 1959 he moved to the town of Rolling and worked for Tatro Construction.
In 1962 he began his over 30 year career as a heavy equipment operator for the Langlade County Highway Department. Following his retirement he worked part time for Krueger and Stienfest, Stibbe Construction and Kautza Excavating.
Keith served on the town of Rolling town board for many years. He served as sexton for the Hall Pioneer and Elmhurst Cemeteries, both in the town of Rolling.
He was a member of the Divne-Menting American Legion Post 525, Phlox having served as past commander and chaplain. Devoted Langlade County 4-H leader, Keith, volunteered as a leader of the Strassburg Ever-Ready 4-H club for over 50 years. He served on the Langlade County Fair board, FFA Alumni, and was instrumental in starting the farm animal sale at the fair. Passionate about teaching farm safety, Keith delivered his safety message to thousands of youth and their families. He was instrumental in starting the first farm safety day camp in Langlade County. In 2021 he was recognized by the Langlade County Farm Bureau for 28 years of advocating farm safety. He was also a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Mattoon where he served as an Elder.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Jeanette Ackerman, Lorraine Rosio, Alice Fischer, Helen Wysocki, and sister in infancy, Verna; and brothers, Allen, Donald and Albert.
