Bellingham, Washington - John Evans French passed away peacefully at Whatcom Hospice House, on the morning of September 19, 2021. He was 63.
John was an accomplished musician, whose musical education included study under instructors at San Francisco Conservatory of Music and the National Conservatory of Music in Paris. At varying points over the last 2 decades, John has brought his talent and skill to the positions of Director of Music, Organist, Pianist and Choral Director for Bellingham Theatre Guild, Mount Baker Theater, Northwest Ballet Theater and many Whatcom County churches. These include Trinity Lutheran Church, St John's Lutheran Church, Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Church of the Assumption Parish and Sacred Heart Parish in Bellingham, as well as Christ Lutheran Church in Ferndale.
John was also an entertainment critic for Entertainment News Northwest magazine for several years. In addition to his musical talent and accomplishments, John had an avid interest in history, gourmet cooking and theater. He was also an advocate for animals and a stellar friend, with a wicked sense of humor.
John is survived by an extended family of friends (as well as acquaintances), who will miss him often and forever think of him fondly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 30 at 2:00pm at Christ Lutheran Church, 5904 Vista Drive in Ferndale. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Christ Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 845, Ferndale, WA 98248.
