MARION, Va.
Kate Counts Pittman, age 86, passed away on Tuesday October 19, 2021, in Annandale, Va. Kate was born in Saltville, Va., and was preceded in death by her parents, William Lester Farrington and Margaret Slemp Farrington; her grandparents, with whom she was a favorite grandchild, H.G. and Emma Slemp, and R.C. and Lelia Farrington and her husband, William H. Pittman.
She worked as an accountant for Baltimore Gas and Electric Company and United Iron and Metal Company in Baltimore, Md. She also worked at Sears for many years. Kate enjoyed watching horse races and going to concerts. She was a devout Christian Lady and a member of the South Fork Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Pittman, USCG, (Ret), Reston, Va., and James Pittman, USN, and wife, Judy, of Annandale, Va.; grandchildren, Peter Pittman and wife, Tina, Hannah Fallon and husband, Paul, and Sarah Pittman and husband, Chris Theoharis, and Gabriel Hassouni; great-grandchildren, Kaelan, Azarias, George, Lydia, Stella, and Yanni Fallon; brother, William Gerald Farrington; sister, Elaine Farrington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Private graveside services will be held on Saturday October 23, 2021, at South Fork Baptist Church Cemetery with the Revered Kenny Rich officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214, or the Missions fund, c/o Lebanon Baptist Association, 29491 Lee Highway, Glade Spring, VA 24340.
