James Allen Harvey, 87, of Bluefield, WV, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at his home.
Born March 4, 1934 in Princeton, WV, he was a son of the late Henry Miller Harvey and Florence Keatley Harvey. Mr. Harvey retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a window clerk. He was a veteran of the Army, having served in Korea. He was a member of Cumberland Height Baptist Church in Bluefield. Mr. Harvey was also a member of Riley-Vest Post #9 of the American Legion and V.F.W. Post 9696. He was a volunteer at Bluefield Regional Medical Center and St. Lukes Hospital.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Beavers Harvey; three children, Mark Harvey and wife Teresa of Clayton, NC, Pamela Linkous and husband James of Bluefield, WV, and Melissa Barker and husband J.D. of Clayton, NC; one sister, Nancy Bailey of Princeton, WV; seven grandchildren, Constance Turlington, Kayla Cooper, Mark Harvey, Jr., Mason Linkous, Bethany Linkous, Ashton Barker, and Christian Barker; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. from the Mercer Funeral Home Chapel with his son, Mark Harvey officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Mercer County Veteran's Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Private entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
