Family and friends will gather at the New Zion Baptist Church Saturday morning at 11 a.m. adorned in all shades of green, prepared to celebrate the life of Herculee McCarroll, who was born Mar. 8, 1935, in the Ran Community of Love County. Military grave rites will follow the services in Prairie View Cemetery. His nephews, Lawrence Anderson will present the Eulogy and Gregory McCarroll will officiate.
A 1953 graduate of Marietta's Douglass High School, he then graduated from Fairfield Barber College in Fairfield, Texas. He made his home in Wichita, Kan., and Oklahoma City, before returning to Marietta, with his family. He retired from the UniRoyal Tire Plant in 1993. He had previously worked for Boeing Aircraft in Kansas and Western Electric in Oklahoma City. When a youngster, he accepted Christ as Lord and united with Bethel Union Baptist Church in Ran, and was baptized by the late Pastor, J.J. Johnson.
Herculee departed this mortal life Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, from Bradford Village in Edmond. He was 83-years old. In addition to his wife, the former Marion Yvonne New, he is also preceded in death by his parents, Vernis Badger and Nona McCarroll, Bessie and William Bill Halstied; a daughter, Juanita McCarroll; a son, Micah Juan McCarroll; three brothers, LaBraska Halstied, Charles McCarroll, and Jimmie McCarroll; two sisters, Lorene Foreman and Lovetta Douglass.
Herculee is survived by two sons, Richard McCarroll and Ricci Cortez McCarroll; a daughter, Ramona Tajuba; three brothers, Russel (Shirley) Halstied, Perry (Rebecca) Halstied, and Hayze Halstied; six sisters, Vernona Jackson, Jolene (Nun) Barbee, Rosemary Payne, Dorothy (L.J.) Lornes, Etta Halstied and Willie (Jobie) Kirk; a brother-in-law, Lewis Douglass; three sisters-in-law, Hattie McCarroll, Melva (Charles) McDowell and Lois Martin; an uncle, Clentis (Virginia) McCarroll; 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a countless number of friends.
Viewal will be held in Kirk Funeral Home Chapel Friday beginning at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Bearers of the Bier are Keith Douglass, Willy Anderson, Lawrence McCarroll, Keith McCarroll, Cecil McCarroll and Garland McCarroll. Bearers of flowers are Sherry Farrow, Karen Vick, Sheila Hamilton, Deirdre Douglass, Latosha Lornes and Latronda Lornes. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].
