Ruby Inez Gilyard Ward was born March 18, 1940 in Homerville, Georgia. She was the daughter of Willie Gilyard and Shirley Simmons Stephens. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Collis Ward; both parents; son, Warnell Williams; brother, Ted Timmons; and sisters, Sally Webster, Barbara Singh and Willie Mae Jones.

Formative years for Ruby were spent in her native Homerville where she attended the public schools of Clinch County. A private person, Ruby was devoted to the well-being of her children. She was a dedicated homemaker who enjoyed cooking, puzzle-solving and tending her flowers.

Sister Ruby confessed Christ as her Redeeming Savior many years ago. She was a member of the Crawfordville Love Center. She was a regular attendee until her health restricted her otherwise. On Thursday, June 17, 2020, while a patient at Capital Regional Medical Center, God Almighty released Sister Ruby Inez Gilyard Ward from all earthly trials and tribulations and welcomed Home for her Celestial rest.
