Lee C. Smith entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 16, 2021, in James River Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center, Newport News. He was born on April 10, 1935, to the union of Maggie and Cleve Smith in Mullins, South Carolina.

Lee was united in holy matrimony to the late Annie J. Smith. He worked as a skilled carpenter for most of his life until retirement. His work can be found in the construction of many notable buildings across the peninsula. He loved to fish and hunt.

He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, David (Martha Lee), Ed, Charlie (Flora Mae), Carl (Elaine), Clara Bell (Jasper), Argie Mae and Mary Ann.

He leaves his fond and beautiful memories with his daughters, Joann Smith Brown and Vera White-Blunt (Bishop James Blunt); seven grandchildren, Rochelle Bryson (Michael), Richard Brown, Tawanna Simpson (Tracy), Shaletha Ceray (Regi), LaTasha Qormley (Quase), Leonte Blunt (Christina), and James Blunt (Eleanor); fifteen great-grandchildren; brother, J.C. (Ree); sister-in-law, Alice; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, October 25, 2021, at Whiting's Funeral Home. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Entombment to follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Mr. Smith may be viewed on Monday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the hour of his service. Facial coverings are required for all services.
