Kenneth Watts passed away peacefully at home on November 15, 2009, after a short illness. He was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on August 22, 1925. His family moved to California in 1927. He attended school in Coalinga, California and graduated from Coalinga High School in 1943. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country through World War II. After his military service, he attended Coalinga Junior College where he met his future wife, Anna Buck. They were married September 7, 1947 in Berkeley, California. He worked in the oil fields in Coalinga for Standard Oil, then in 1951 he moved his family and settled in the Chowchilla/Le Grand area. He worked as a ranch foreman until his retirement in the late 1980's.He was a long-time member of the Bible Christian Church of Le Grand. He also served on the board of the Le Grand Water District. Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Watts and parents, Albert and Mamie Watts. He is survived by his wife, Betty Ray Watts; daughter, Sandra (Vince) Clemons of Merced; son, Alan (Debby) Watts of Atwater; granddaughters, Heather (Mike) Arnold and Brooke Wilson of Merced; great-granddaughter, Haley Arnold; sisters, Wanda Ramsey of Midland, Texas and Martha (Bruce) Guthrie of Atlantic Beach, Florida; brother, James (Mary) Watts of Fresno, California and his special pet, Lady. Services will be held on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Stratford Evans Merced Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Plainsburg Cemetery.
