Shirley J. Sims, 78, of Indianapolis was welcomed into heaven on July 3, 2014. She was born September 7, 1935, in Portsmouth, Ohio to Foster Reid Kirker and Virginia Margaret (Jones) Kirker. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 25 years, Morris David "Midge" Sims, and her precious baby daughter, Sherry.

Shirley retired from Patton Wallcovering, Columbus, Ohio, in 1999 where she worked for 11 years. She was also employed by B & A Paint and Blonders.

Shirley is survived by her children, Jack (Bridget) Sims and Linda (Christopher) Howard; grandchildren, Lindsey (Trevor) Smith, Jeremy (Mikayla) Sims and Natalie Howard, and great-grandson Jackson Bruce Smith.

Family was everything to Shirley. She enjoyed the times she spent attending NASCAR races with her children and attending numerous activities for her grandchildren. It was a very special time for her and she loved it dearly.

Shirley's family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Lakeview Nursing Facility who ensured that her last years were comfortable and filled with laughter and love.

Following cremation, she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband and daughter in Mustard Cemetery, Rarden, Ohio. Graveside service to be scheduled at a later date.
