FREDERICKSBURG, Texas - Douglas Dean Sieler, 80, of Fredericksburg, passed away on January 30, 2018, in Kerrville, TX. He was born in Wishek, ND to Philip and Ella Sieler on January 4, 1938. He married Judy Lynell Sieler on Sept. 11, 1960 in Spencer, NE.

Doug attended Billings Senior High School and played American Legion Baseball for coach Ed Bayne. He played in college and earned varsity letters three years at the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1961. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, served as a Captain in the Air Force and became an instructor pilot. After the war, he moved to New Jersey and worked for American Airlines the next 32 years. He retired to Fredericksburg, Texas and he spent his last 20 years enjoying the solitude of his ranch.

His nicknames were 'Seals" and Jumbo, due to his outsized personality, not his physical stature. Everyone he knew was given a nickname back. He loved to joke and make you laugh. He was passionate about his interests including flying, golf, tennis, sailing, chess, ping pong, reading, politics, Mozart, crab legs, tempura sauce and Pinot Noir. No other known person sent more emails these past two decades! What he loved most was living on the ranch and being with his extended family and all of his great friends.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Philip and Ella, his brother Dennis, and sister Joyce.

He is survived by his wife Judy, sons Lincoln and Ani Sieler, Shawn and Danielle Sieler, and Ryan, and daughter Hilarie and Horacio Gutierrez. He is survived by his sister Marilyn and Bob Kreiner, and her children Dennis and Kelly Holmes. He is also survived by and so proud of his eight grandchildren: Kate, Will, Ana, Emily, Olivia, Abby, Gaby and Lexy.

Funeral Services will be held in Billings, on Saturday March 3, 2018. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., at the Elks Lodge #394, followed by burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens. A reception will held from 12-3 p.m., back at the Elks Lodge. Instead of flowers, his family requests donations be sent in his memory to Billings American Legion Baseball, PO Box 22535, Billings, MT 59104.
