Terri Dawn Stanley
May 20 1959 - October 16 2021
Terri Dawn Murie Stanley

Terri was born on May 20, 1959, in San Pedro, California to Twila Dawn Jennings and Everett Willard Murie. Her family moved to Oregon in October 1959 where she lived most of her life. God called her Home to her eternal resting place on Saturday, October 16, 2021 in the presence of her family.

As a small child, she was blessed to spend a great deal of time with her maternal grandparents. She had a very special relationship with her grandmother, Jessie Dee Jennings, and learned many of her skills from watching her. She said she would always remember the sound of the needle going through the material as her grandma embroidered many beautiful items for her family. Grandpa Daniel Albert Jennings spent hours reading to her. She credited him for her passion of reading.

She began her school years at Gervais Elementary School. After moving to Salem in 1970, she attended Hayesville Grade School, Waldo Middle School, and graduated from McNary High School in 1977. She enjoyed her time in the school choirs and being the pianist for the Stage Band while attending McNary. When working full time for the School District she also made time to attend Eastern Oregon University and received a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts and a Minor in History. It had been a long-time dream to finish her education.

One of the many highlights of Terri's life was her ability to take her daughters to Disneyland many times. She also spent a wonderful vacation in Disneyland with her father just prior to his death. This trip sparked a lifetime interest in all things Disney.

Terri was an avid reader and had read her Bible several times. She was a Kindergarten teacher when Carissa was in pre-school, a position that was one of her all-time favorites. She loved crafting and making scrap books with the many pictures of her children and grandchildren. She owned a shop called Sunflower Corner where she sold many of her craft items. She was an active participant in the Green Show for several years. She then moved on to making quilts and in one year made a quilt for each of her six grandchildren and several others. Quilting was a passion, and she planned each quilt to reflect the person who would receive it. She was a born planner and enjoyed planning activities for all types of occasions.

In addition to all the above, Terri spent hours in supporting her daughters in all their activities. She attended all the swim meets, softball games, choir productions, plays, and all other activities they enjoyed. She loved being a hands-on mother and volunteered for many things during these activities to show her support for both Carissa and Jessie as well as the team or group.

During her time working for the State of Oregon, Terri worked for DMV, Mental Health, and Senior Services. In the early 1980's she made the decision to move to Washington and attend Bible School and work in Washington for a couple of years. When she returned to Oregon, her last employment was through the Salem Keizer School District where she worked as Office Manager for Special Education, retiring after 21 years from this position.

Terri is survived by her two daughters, Carissa Dawn Stanley and Jessie Lynn Stanley (Bryan) Wolf; and six grandchildren who were the loves of her life. They are the Bennett children: Emery Madisen, Finnigen Lee and Addelyn Taylor; and the Wolf children: Michael Kenneth, Olivia Dawn, and Nicklaus Alexander. She is also survived by her mother, Twila Smith; a sister Sherri Lynn (David) Cartwright, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a large extended family as well as many special friends. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, her father, Everett Willard Murie and her stepfather, Roy Kenneth Smith, as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
