Gary Lynn Hester, age 75, passed away October 18, 2021, surrounded by his wife, Jo Anne Hester of 56 years and his two daughters, Jodie Wilkinson and Gerri Hester Bullen.

Gary was born in Winters, Texas, and proudly served his country for 35 years in the Army National Guard, over 20 of those years being full time. His military career took him to Germany and to many other states in the U.S. He retired as Sergeant Major / Chief Intelligence Sergeant. Gary then worked 10 years for IRS before retiring to spend his remaining years with the love of his life, wife Jo Anne.

Gary was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Gary was passionate about football especially when it came to his two favorite teams, the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns.

Gary was a devout Christian whose Baptist faith helped him prepare for his life on Earth to end and his afterlife in Heaven to begin. All will miss him dearly but can find peace in knowing he is now with his Lord, our Savior, and no longer in pain.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Lonnie and Bonnie Hester; siblings Charles Hester, Lloyd Hester, and Virginia Brooks; and eldest daughter Lynn Anne Brunson.

A graveside service for Gary was held on Friday, October 22 at 3:00 PM at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park, 6300 West William Cannon Drive, Austin, Texas 78749.
