Robert Lee Barry, 82, of Moultrie, passed away Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Murphy Cemetery with the Reverend Jimmy Albritton officiating. The family will greet friends after the service.

Born May 26, 1939, in Ocilla, Georgia, he was the son of the late Thomas Jefferson "Jeffie" Barry and Ethel Thomas Barry.

Mr. Barry was a United States National Guard Veteran and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Robert retired from the Marine Logistic Base as an inspector. He was the most amazing man who loved his family dearly. He was the best husband, father, and grandfather "Papa" a person could have. He would give the shirt off his back if he had nothing else, and he loved those around him with a type of love not often seen. Robert lived large and lived busy. Most days he was up before the sunrise, heading to the Waffle House and then getting to work on the farm. He had a passion for antique tractors and enjoyed showcasing his treasures at the Expo every year. He loved riding his ATV in the woods and telling stories about his childhood and his time working for the military. Robert was a compassionate person who will truly be missed by many.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Barry Smith; siblings, James Barry, Lilla Tucker, Ween Davis, Pete Barry, Cora Lee Powers, Deana Miller, Vada Gillespie and T.J. Barry.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janice Newton Barry of Moultrie; children, Sonja Barry Thompson and husband Randy, Christopher Barry and wife Beth all of Moultrie; grandchildren, Blake Thompson (Mimi), Morgan Barry, Alex Barry and wife Marisa; great-grandchildren, Beckett Thompson, Lizzie Barry, Janice Barry and Serenity Barry; sister, Carrie Salkeld of California; numerous extended family members.
