Dawn Joleen (Kiehn) Hanson was born on April 4, 1961, in Spokane, WA to Val Dena (Keesee) Kiehn. She moved to Minnesota when she was in grade school and graduated from Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis. Dawn attended college at Alexandria Technical College and graduated with an AAS degree in office management and accounting.

Dawn was a single mom and went above and beyond to care for her kids. She had multiple jobs at a time to assure her kids were well provided for. Emotionally fulfilling jobs like non profits, and the opportunity to be creative were qualities she looked for when accepting new jobs. Dawn often tried new ventures and kept her eye out for unique opportunities. She was very creative and used that talent to make arts and crafts such as jewelry and dream catchers, which she sold at markets and fairs.

Dawn died on Monday, October 18, 2021, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. She is survived by her children, Rocky (Carley) Yeats, Ryan (Kacie) Kiehn-Yeats, Riley (Haley) Hanson, and Bri-Anne Stevens; 17 grandchildren; and brothers, John (Amy) Kiehn and Lannie Kiehn. She is preceded in death by her mom; 3 infant siblings; 1 infant grandson and sister, Sandra Magnuson.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 29, 2021, at the Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. A live stream and recording of the service will be available at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 29, 2021, on Dawn's obituary page on the funeral home website. Interment will be at Kinkead Cemetery.
