Funeral services, celebrating the life of Ruby Cooper, 93, of Kirkersville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Kae Merold as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Kirkersville Cemetery, where Ruby will be buried with her husband Johnnie, who preceded her in death in 2001.
Ruby passed away suddenly on October 15, 2021. She was born in Elkins, WV, on October 30, 1927, the daughter of the late Dillon and Hettie (Long) Thompson.
She worked alongside her husband as secretary and bookkeeper for Cooper Construction for many years. Originally a member of the former Kirkersville Baptist Church, she also attended Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking pies and working in her garden and canning. She was a former member of the Kirkersville Mothers Club.
She is survived by her family: children Carol Glaub (Dean Woodyard), Gary (Julie) Cooper and Debbie (Michael) Poff; her brother Frank (Bobbie) Thompson; sister Bessie (Dave) Meier; her daughters-in-law Christy and Pam; 12 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by two sons Johnnie and Jimmy Cooper, a great grandson Rhett Cooper and her 9 brothers and 9 sisters.
