Evelyn Vanover Hampton, age 58, of Honaker, Virginia, passed away Tuesday (October 19, 2021) at her home. Born November 2, 1962 in Richlands, Virginia, she was a daughter of Wanda Boyd Vanover Clayborne of Honaker and the late Drainon Vanover. A lifelong resident of the area, she attended Perkins Chapel in Swords Creek, Virginia. Evelyn always had a talent for making sure others were cared for, she enjoyed crocheting and cooking, but most of all spending time with her family.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one sister, Cathy Tuggle, paternal grandparents, Frank and Laura Greene Vanover, and maternal grandparents, Emory and Helen Lambert Boyd.
In addition to her mother, survivors include one son, William Hampton, Jr.; granddaughter, Kendra Hampton; sisters, Nancy Ray and husband, Junior, Karen Honaker and husband, Jeff, Laura Reynolds and fiancé, Jeff, and Carolyn Johnson; brother, Brian Vanover and wife, Angie; special aunts and uncles, Jackie Boyd and wife, Kathy, Wilma Lester and husband, Ray, and Agnes Boyd; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Helping Hands Hospice for the love and care they provided.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM Thursday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel, Honaker, Virginia with Rev. Junior Ray and Rev. Steve Ray officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday at Clinch Valley Memorial Cemetery in Richlands, Virginia. Those wishing to attend are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 AM to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be Shade Ray, Luke Ratliff, Jerod Honaker, Logan Reynolds, Colby Vanover, Landon Rohrer, Jeff Ward, and Dylan McNutt.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jacklyn Ray, Samantha Ferguson, Emily McNutt, Courtney Honaker, and Abigail Vanover.
The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 6:00 PM Thursday.
