Sylvia Sue Patty Wilson, age 80 of Knoxville, TN peacefully passed in the presence of her children Saturday, October 16, 2021.
Born in Corryton, TN on October 18, 1940 to the late Claude R and Hester D. Cassidy Patty. She was raised on House Mountain and graduated from Gibbs High School. In 1959 she met the love of her life and married the late Roger Allen Wilson. They soon moved to Highland Falls, NY where they raised a family before returning to Knoxville in 1979.
Sylvia was a gentle and caring soul who loved the finer things like enjoying sunshine, a good book, cup of coffee, flower garden, and colorful birds on a feeder. Her handwriting was legendary, full of style and substance. She painted, oil on canvas, and supported her adventurous husband all the way to the wilds of Alaska. She was always present at life's events from her son's military accomplishments, family reunions grand and small, and great grandchildren's ball games.
Left to remember her grace are her children and their spouses Angela Dale and Jeffrey Johnson, Roger Allen Jr. and Susan Wilson, her grand and great-grandchildren Amanda and Junior Sizemore with Keaton and Rylon, Alea Lowe with Whitaker, Bailey, Breanna, Cole Wilson, Jonathan & Chauntae Johnson with Kya, Mason,Tucker, and Oakley, Billy and Melodie Johnson with Rylie, her siblings Marion Gladney, Claude Patty, sister-in-law Ella Stroppel, brother-in-law Roy Lee Wilson, and extended numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services are planned for Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 1pm at Greenwood Cemetery, Knoxville, TN with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to the National COPD Foundation @ COPDfoundation.org in memory of Sylvia Wilson.
