Violet Nancy Matilda Luella Jupp was a daughter of John Letson Jupp (b. 1888) and Charlotte Matilda McNall (1887-1915). Charlotte died from tuberculosis at the Hamilton Asylum in March 1915, when Violet was 7 years old. Her father married Lillian Kemp the following August.
