Pat (Burwell) Parker peacefully passed away on October 17th, 3:15 p.m., at St. Francis Hospital, one day before her 80th birthday.
Patsy Marie Burwell was born on Oct 18th, 1941.
She was raised in Mattoon, IL with her 3 brothers, Jerry, Harry and Harold (known by Butch) before moving to the Peoria area. While looking for the best place to raise her children as a single mother, she moved to Sunnyland, called it home and spent the rest of her life there. Some of the places she worked while raising the kids on her own were the Hiram Walker Factory, where she made some close friends. And then after that she enjoyed working at the Hallmark store and K-Mart as a cashier. After raising her kids, and a little late in life, she met and married the love of her life, the late Bill Parker and cherished the role of being his wife. But Pat always said "better late than never". Besides being with her kids and grandkids, the things in life she enjoyed the most were; spending time with her mother Caroline Fitzpatrick (known to all as Tubby), attending her Fitzpatrick family reunions in Mattoon and hosting her annual Burwell Christmas party that included many nieces and nephews that adored their Aunt Pat. When she had to give up her hobbies of homemaking and gardening because of health reasons, she spent many hours on the phone with her brothers, grandson and her girlfriends.
Most of all she was known to her kids, Gina, Donnie and Caroline as the best mother that anyone could ask for. And she was well known to all as for giving unconditional love to all her kids and grandkids. Pat was a very content person with the simpler things in life and her happiest times were spent with family and of course a Coca-Cola in her hand.
Those who she leaves to miss her every day include her brothers, Harry and Butch; her children, daughter, Gina and husband, Tim Small; son, Donnie and wife, Rosie Davis and daughter, Caroline and husband, Jerry Barton; 8 grandchildren, Josh, Janine, Jennifer, Nicole, Rachel, Kenny, Tasha and Omery; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren (and one on the way); her family members in Mattoon; her Burwell family and her devoted long time friends; Linda, Maxine and Mags.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Bill" Parker; her brother, Jerry; and her very special first born granddaughter, Pepper.
Per Pat's wishes she will be cremated and her close family will have a private gathering to honor her life. Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is taking care of assisting the family and all the arrangements.
