Robert Ray "Bobby" Nabors, Jr. of Overbrook, OK, was born September 19, 1955, in Santa Ana, California, the son of Robert Ray Nabors, Sr. and Christine Swinney Nabors. He passed away Monday, August 13, 2007, at his residence at Overbrook at the age of 51.
A 1973 graduate of Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City, OK, Mr. Nabors had been a resident of Love County most of his life. He and Suzy Dea Schmidt were married October 22, 1981, in Ardmore, OK. A veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, Mr. Nabors served in the U.S. Army and was awarded the Marksmanship Medal. He was also involved in the Movement Control Team, Anaconda, in Iraq in 2002-2003. Mr. Nabors received a Forestry Degree in 1975. He was a western historian and at the time of his death was employed as a frac tank supervisor. Mr. Nabors was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Nabors, Sr.; grandparents, Andrew & Francis Swinney and Jessie & Mae Nabors; two uncles, Tom Smith and Hershel Swinney; and his horse, Cisco Pete.
He is survived by his wife Suzy D. Nabors of the home; mother Christine Nabors of Marsden Community; Son and daughter Jess & Jessica Nabors, OKC, Ok.; sisters Christell Robb, Ardmore, Ok., Patricia and husband Keith DiPatri, Hummelstown, Pa.; grandson Joshua Nabors.
Audie Swinney and Rev. Jason Williams will officiate.
Casket bearers will be Jesse Nabors, Jonny Hickman, Keith DiPatri, Marty Swinney and Wes Hickman
Funeral service will be Thu. August 16, 2007 , 10:00 AM at Marsden Baptist Church. Interment to follow at McAlister Cemetery.
