Ellen R. (Groft) Brown, age 72, passed away at Hanover Hall Nursing Home on October 16, 2021.
Ellen was born in Hanover on November 2, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Edgar L. and Catherine J. (Miller) Groft. She graduated from Delone Catholic High School Class of 1966. She then went on to work for Hanover Hall Nursing home, where she worked in various roles for many years before retiring. Ellen was a parishioner of Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church and a member of the McSherrystown Moose and the Tops Club. She enjoyed needlepointing, crocheting, shopping, and watching her favorite soap operas.
Ellen is survived by her daughters Regina Shriner and domestic partner William Gretok and Angela Smith and domestic partner David Turner; her son Thomas Brown and wife Julie; her grandchildren Caity, Luke, Megan, Courtney, and Alexis, and 6 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Daniel Groft and wife Deb, and their daughter Kim; her sister Judy Yankowski and husband Joe; and many nieces and nephews. Ellen was preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Groft.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00AM at Annunciation Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 26 N. 3rd St. McSherrystown PA 17344, with Fr. Richard Lyons celebrating. The interment will follow in the church cemetery.
