Doris J. Fisher 86 a resident of South Road passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday October 16, 2021 in the comfort of her loving family. She was born at home in Arlington on May 18, 1935 , the daughter of William and Maude (Andrew) Secoy , her parents died when she was very young and she was raised by the only father she ever knew, her Uncle Winfield Secoy. Doris grew up in the Arlington/Sunderland area where she attended local schools, graduating from Arlington Memorial High School in 1953. In earlier years she had worked at the former Hale Furniture Company , she established Stay Trim Studio in Bennington which she operated for many years before taking an administrative position at Orvis Company retiring from there after 17 years. Doris was a member of American Legion Post 69 Auxiliary and Red Mountain Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. She was an accomplished bowler , holding the Vermont State record for highest average for many years, she loved fishing especially on Lake Ontario where the family has a camp. Doris was an animal lover , especially her dogs, she loved to gamble at area casinos, go snowmobiling, feed the birds who visited her yard and gardening. Her family was the most important part of her life. She leaves her husband Donald who she married at the Federated Church of East Arlington on June 20, 1953, her son Christopher Fisher and his wife Dawn of Sunderland, daughter Susan Figliomeni and her husband Carlo of Delanson, NY, grandchildren Laura Niedecker and husband Rhys and Jeremy Fisher and fiancé Courtney Hopkins. She was predeceased by siblings Roger, Paul, Frankie and Marguerite (Peggy).
