Lydia McDonald, age 84, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Hillcrest Nursing Center in Magee, MS. She was born to Lucy (Munoz) O'Limon in Tepic, Nayarit in western Mexico on August 7, 1937.
For over thirty years, Lydia taught Sunday school at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Magee. She had a servant's heart and devotion to children. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and making delicious Mexican dishes. Known to be a hard worker, Lydia didn't retire until she was eighty years old. She will be greatly missed by her family and community.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth J. McDonald of Mendenhall, MS, John A. McDonald of Laredo, TX; daughter, Pearl Bernice Melton of Mendenhall, MS; grandchildren, Stephanie Melton, Marissa McDonald, Jonathan J. McDonald and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-four years, John Bill McDonald and her mother.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 22, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Magee. Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Anthony Chakkalakkal officiating. Interment will be at Clifton Baptist Church Cemetery in Forest, MS.
