"Chuck" Charlie Hampton Johnson, Jr., age 60, of the Big Hill Community in Pennington Gap, VA, went to his heavenly home Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN.

Chuck was born August 17, 1961 in Norfolk, VA. He graduated in 1980 from Dryden High School.  He served in the U.S. Army Infantry from 1980-1983; M16 Rifle Sharp Shooter expert, Army Service Ribbon. He worked in grocery service retail for many years as Manager/District Manager for Piggly Wiggly, Food City, and White's Fresh Foods. He was employed with A & A Securities in Norton, VA as a Lieutenant from 2006 until his passing. He was a member of Smyth Chapel Church of Woodway, VA. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family. He liked to spend time at the lake with his family drinking coffee whenever he could. His family and grandgirls were his whole world. Sunday morning breakfast with his girls was a special time for him.

He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Hallie Hobbs, mother Gloria Dye, father Charlie Johnson, Sr., two brothers Tim Johnson and Tim Dye.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 35 years, Melissa K. "Missy" Johnson of the home, two daughters Emileah Johnson and Fiance, (David Grider) of the home, Amber Hobbs (Josh) of Jonesville, VA, one son Patrick Johnson (Amber) of Dryden, VA, granddaughters Tabitha and Ava Johnson; two sisters: Shannon Smith (Larry) of Flatlick, KY, Cathy Hensley (Darrell) of Jonesville, VA; two brothers: Mark Johnson (Kim) of Knoxville, TN, Brandon Dye of Pennington Gap, VA; Dad "Chub" Bill Dye; many nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of many friends. Very special aunt, Sondra Kitterman ( Bill) of Louisville, KY.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA with Darrell Hensley officiating. Friends and Church family will provide music. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:15 for the service. Family and friends will serve as Pall Bearers.
