Janet E. Gilbert, age 94 of Marion passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Wesleyan Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marion.

Janet was born on January 31, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana the daughter of the late Stanley and Vera (Williams) Newey. She married Gene D. Gilbert on November 14, 1952, and he preceded her in death on August 26, 1991.

In her younger years, Janet was active in the Tops Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Eastern Star Mississinewa Chapter 94 of Marion and the Marion Women's Department Club. She was a very active member of St. Paul Catholic Church and a volunteer at Marion General Hospital. She was a very giving and caring person with a heart of gold, and her family was her world.

She is survived by two daughters, Emilie Gilbert and Susan Gilbert, both of Marion. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Newey.

Visitation will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Raven-Choate Funeral Home, 1202 W. Kem Road, Marion, Indiana. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. with Father Ted Rothrock officiating.

Burial will follow funeral services at Grant Memorial Park Cemetery, Marion, Indiana with Pastor Darrell Smith officiating.
