He was a former millwright for General Motors Locomotive Division in Countryside, Illinois, retiring after twenty-six years of service.
Military:
He served his country honorably and was a United States Army Veteran.
He was a member of VFW Post 5419, Cumberland Masonic Lodge #413, Kosair Shrine Temple, Dale Hollow Shrine Club, Valley of Louisville Scottish Rite and was a Kentucky Colonel.

His parents; one brother: Steven Scott and one sister: Lula Bell Thurman.
