Fred was born May 22, 1948 in West Frankfort to Leo Monroe and Eva Louise (Richard) Roberts. He was united in marriage to Beth Ann Genzler on October 1, 1977 in Steger, Illinois. Together they've shared 44 years of marriage.
Fred was a 1966 graduate of West Frankfort High School. He continued his education at John A. Logan College where he earned his degree in Electronics. Fred was a Draftsman for Coal Age in West Frankfort and retired from National Mine Services in Nashville.
Fred was of the Baptist faith and attended Grace Missionary Baptist Church in Marion. He enjoyed working on chainsaws and trimmers.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Roberts of Johnston City; four children, Jared (Katy) Roberts of Johnston City, Adina Roberts of Johnston City, Seth Roberts of Marion and Destiny Roberts of Johnston City; mother, Eva Louise Roberts of Johnston City; one brother, Kevin (Karen) Roberts of Johnston City.
He is preceded in death by his father, Leo Roberts; one brother, Henry Roberts.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 18, 2021 at Pyle Funeral Home in Johnston City with Br. Mike Harvel officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home the day of the service.
