A native of Union County, Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Alfred J. Fowler in 2012.

She was the daughter of the late John Wesley and Myrtle Boone Starnes.

Hilda spent the later years of her career at Lakeland Memorial Park-Family Services for nearly two and a half decades and loved serving her Union County family. She truly made a friend in everyone she served.

Earlier in life she worked at Stylecraft and owned-operated Monroe Beauty Shop. Hilda was a devoted member of the Pilot Club and was passionate in her service. She was a member of Turner Presbyterian Church until she married at the young age of 68. She was married to Al for 12 years, they attended Rolling Hills Church.

August 21, 2013 Hilda rededicated her life and was baptized at Love Baptist Church where she attended church until her health declined. At the time of Hilda's passing, she was a resident at The Brightmore of South Charlotte, Memory Care. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the love, compassion and care extended daily to 'Aunt Hillie'. The family would also like to thank Levine & Dickson Hospice House–Aldersgate for the care they provided in her final days.

Hilda was survived by many dear friends and family members. Nieces and Nephews include Cynthia Ashley, Susan Pinson (Wayne), Jimmy Plyler (Barbie), Gail Plyler-Strong, Anita Phillips, Tony Starnes, Debbie Keziah (Wayne), Tim Keziah (Rita) and Vonda Locklear.

Hilda was also survived by her step-children, Phyllis Fowler Gray and Lamar Fowler of Atlanta and step-grandchildren, Whitney Gray and Hunter Gray.

Hilda was preceded in death by her three sisters and their husbands, Peggy Keziah (Jack), Lorraine Ingle (James), Louise Plyler (Moser) and brother, W. Ray Starnes.

A graveside service will be held to celebrate her life on Sunday, October 24th at 3:00pm at Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will be available following the graveside service.
