Mr. Dixon, 64, died Aug. 5, 2000, of heart failure at King's Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County on Sept.20, 1935, to Tom Dixon and Martha Washington Dixon. He was agraduate of Progress School.
He was a former mechanic at Moore Sales in Brookhaven. He was a member of Damascus M. B. Church.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, O. C.Dixon and Thomas Dixon; and his sister, Della Sanders.
Survivors are his wife, Alice Wesley Dixon of Brookhaven; his son, J. Hugh Dixon Jr. of Jackson; his daughters, Kayla Evette Freeman and Maronda Elise Dixon, both of Brookhaven; his brothers,Albert Dixon of Brookhaven, Herman Dixon of Providence, R.I., and L. C. Dixon of Lansing, Mich.; his sisters, Ruby Martin, Mable Dixon, and Virgie Brothern, all of Brookhaven, Bessie Smith of Inwood, N.Y., and Lentee Clemons of Lansing, Mich.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
